Pasta Piselli, Old Fashioned Recipes. Simple Foods Makes The Home Great!
Make Mine Pasta!
I can't tell you how many times I heard that phrase growing up but it never sank in until later when I was older and times were not so hard that we ate these foods not from necessity but because our entire being longed for the wonderful simple foods from our past when money was tight and families had to conserve and be creative in order to feed a family with nourishing foods on an extremely limited budget.
Until this day, I never go on a vacation that when I return home the first thing I long for from my kitchen is Pasta Piselli. Fancy Restaurants are great for a change but on a daily basis I find myself longing for the simple foods of days gone by.
Pasta Piselli
Saute 1/2 Onion In 3 Tbsps Olive Oil
Add 1/2 Cup Crushed Tomatoes
A Can Of Peas and 1 Can of Water
Some Fresh Basil and Bring To a Boil
Add 1 Cup Pasta and Cook Till Pasta Is Done
Dish It Up and Sprinkle With Parmesan Cheese
Dinner For Two
Under $2.50 for 2 Servings
I hope you enjoy this dish as much as my family does. It is a favorite of my entire family with the exception of Scott and somehow he never got to like peas. Oh Well! It's your loss Scottie Boy!

- When It Comes To Cooking, Seeing Is Always Better!
Fresh Simple foods are usually the best and this is one of our favorites as my Mother-In-Law would usually make these for Sunday Dinner in addition to Meat Balls and pasta or ravioli or Lasagna back in the 196's. Food was an art in those days and we have such wonderful memories of the family all gathered around the dining room table. There was always fruit and nuts followed by wonderful Italian Pastries from up the block once the dishes were all done. Old Fashioned Recipes are the best to us! - 4 months ago

I know what you mean about liking good old fashioned home cooked meals. Not only are they nourishing for our bodies but also nourish our memories of times spent with our relatives who probably passed many of the recipes down to us. Thanks for sharing one of your favorite recipes and welcome to Hubpages!
